Which Canadian trips can the credit support?
The redeemed code adds CAD Uber Cash toward eligible Uber rides in Canada, in cities where the service operates. It funds transport spending through the recipient’s account rather than arranging a particular journey. The rider still chooses the pickup location, destination and available ride option in Uber.
Uber’s Canadian guidance excludes Family Profiles, scheduled rides and university campus card rides from gift card use. These restrictions matter if the recipient normally relies on a shared payment profile or advance ride scheduling. Canadian Uber Cash is also restricted to Canada; taking the same account abroad does not make the credit valid there.
Choose the amount around your transport budget
The CAD denomination represents account credit, rather than a fixed number of trips. How far it goes depends on the fares charged for the journeys taken. Someone buying for their own use can choose an amount around their expected transport spending; a gift buyer can choose the contribution they want to make without selecting the recipient’s route.
Uber Cash purchased through a Canadian gift card does not expire. The recipient therefore does not have to arrange a trip simply to use the credit before a deadline. Promotional Uber Cash supplied by Uber may have separate expiry conditions, so that rule should not be applied to every balance in the account.
Understand the account balance before buying
A fare below the available credit leaves a remainder for later eligible spending. When the balance is insufficient, Uber may require a secondary payment method to complete payment.
Uber’s Canadian gift card guidance lists a CAD 500 maximum in total gift card value held by one account. Multiple cards can contribute to that balance, and additional cards can be added as existing credit is spent. An individual gift card cannot be reloaded.
Uber Cash generally cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash except where required by law. The Canadian terms provide a specific exception in Quebec: a remaining balance below CAD 5 can be refunded by contacting Uber Support.
